We’ve been locked in since our very first date!

It all began in July 2023. Kimberly was enjoying a weekend of “girl time” at her friend’s house, while Dianabasi was returning from a friend’s wedding. Neither of them knew that a few hours later, they would meet the person they’d spend the rest of their lives with.

Kimberly’s friend invited her to tag along with her and her boyfriend to a birthday party the next day—on a boat, no less! Although Kimberly was battling a sore throat and briefly considered skipping the event, the thought of missing out on a summer boat cruise changed her mind. “I haven’t been on a boat in ages—sounds like fun, I’m in!” she said, happily agreeing to join as the third wheel. Coincidentally, the birthday boy was one of Dianabasi’s close friends.

Dianabasi, exhausted from traveling, also debated whether to attend the party. Ultimately, he decided to push through his fatigue to celebrate his friend—and it’s a good thing he did!

Neither of them expected much beyond a relaxing day on the water with friends. But when Dianabasi spotted Kimberly across the deck, he introduced himself. Kimberly smiled and croaked out a greeting, and they shared a laugh about her raspy voice.

Later, while Kimberly was taking photos on the top deck, Dianabasi offered to snap a picture for her. That very photo is still up on Kimberly’s Instagram! Soon after, the birthday boy suggested, “Pose together—let me get a shot of both of you.” Kimberly found the request a bit odd, but Dianabasi’s gentle demeanor put her at ease, and they posed for their very first picture together.

The rest of the day was filled with easy, memorable moments. That brief encounter sparked a curiosity that led them to exchange contact information. Kim and Dianabasi stayed in touch as friends, chatting over the phone and on social media, until they finally booked their first date. What began as curiosity blossomed into admiration, then a spark, and ultimately, the love they share today.
